At Acton students take ownership of their education and peer relationships. Students learn to master subjects before moving on. Acton students learn to think independently, take responsibility and embrace challenges.

Students Learn by Doing
We believe students learn by doing. Whether it’s launching a startup business, writing your own book, learning to play an instrument, or designing a video game, we learn through experiences.

Virtuous Character Development
We encourage all students to develop virtuous character traits such as honesty, kindness, integrity, compassion, empathy, hard work, and responsibility. 

We use the Socratic Method
We don’t have traditional teachers, instead we use Guides. All guides use the Socratic method, always responding to students’ questions with new questions or choices. This exchange sharpens each students’ critical thinking skills and learners grow in confidence as they begin to learn more independently. 

Apprenticeships 
We know apprenticeships can change lives. Starting in middle school, learners are encouraged to find internships in a field they are passionate about. All students are also encouraged to participate in our annual Children’s Business Fair, where they research and create their own businesses. When learners feel empowered and see their hard work in action their confidence skyrockets!!
